Zip-Chem Cor-Ban 27L is on the QPL for all of the specifications listed in the Specifications section of this TDS. Cor-Ban 27L has been formulated to function as a non-drying, wide temperature range, corrosion inhibiting compound for static joint applications on a multitude of substrates. A thixotropic, buffcolored film can be achieved on any metal surface and will maintain a flexible protective coating that will withstand high ultra violet exposure in highly corrosive environments.

 Zip-Chem Cor-Ban 27L has been approved by Boeing Commercial Airplane Company as a substitute for current BMS 3-27 materials where BMS 3-27 is specified on the drawing. For inservice applications please contact appropriate manufacturer's service engineering

The bulk packaged material can be applied with spatula or brush at reasonable ambient temperatures. Pre-heating the product to 100 - 120°F will aid it's spreading properties. The cartridge fits into a standard pneumatic or ratchet sealant gun that is common in the industry. It can be applied at room temperature or at elevated temperature depending on the desired type of coverage. Removal of the coating is achieved by wiping off all excess material and flushing part or wiping part with a rag soaked with Zip-Chem D-5600NS citrus based cleaner, D-5640NS Degreaser, Sur-Prep 3160 or mineral spirits

Cor-Ban 27L exhibits an extremely smooth and uniform paste like consistency without any lumps or grit. It will yield a smooth, non-drying, even film that will yield excellent corrosion resistance. The product contains no chromates, asbestos, MoS2, or graphite. The working temperature range for Cor-Ban 27L is typically -65°F to 180°F, but it has been successfully used in gearbox applications where temperatures can reach as high as 280°F. It can also withstand brief exposure to temperatures as high as 500°F with little impact on it's corrosion protective properties.
